Our three standard chips
First some general information
These chips all work exactly the same way. When your smartphone comes close to an NFC tag, the electrical field will 'power up' the circuitry in the tag through electromagnetic induction in the same way as electronic charging.
As no physical connectors are used with NFC, the connection is more reliable and does not suffer problems of contact wear, corrosion and dirt experienced by systems using physical connectors.
NFC tags don't wear out over time. Passive tags can last for decades, depending on how they are treated. A tag in a dry environment with moderate temperatures that is not banged around can continue to perform normally for an indefinite period of time.
These are the most common chips in the market. They can be used in, on and under materials such as glass, plastic, wood, ceramics etc....
They can be part of a business card, a poster, a label, a chessboard, a cheeseboard. a surfboard a...... you get the drift?
But put them on a metal surface and they go dark. Why? Because a metal surface scatters the magnetic field of the phone which stops it powering up the chip.
But........if you take a layer of insulating material such as Ferrite and put sufficient in a layer under a standard chip, it works again.
Interestingly ferrite is often used as the magnet in fridge magnets so if you combine both these technologies you can get, wait for it -

These chips use the same casing as chips for pets like, cats, dogs llamas. This makes them particularly good for going inside stuff.
Our inventive clients have put them in lobster pots, flower pots, grandfather clocks, the bark of trees, the hives of bees, etc.........
The only limitation to NFC is the breadth of your imagination.
